Looking In…Looking Out!

Looking In…Looking Out

by Lisa Lock

For all God’s beautiful children living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder

———————————————————————–

Looking In

You act different… but only slightly.

There is something in your eyes,

It reveals this world of lies.

And, you’re hurting inside

.

You sound different… but only slightly.

I hear something in your tone,

Your focussed time alone,

I know, you’re hurting inside

.

You play different… but only slightly.

There is something in your game,

You cannot play the same,

This must hurt you inside.

.

You think different… but only slightly.

But there’s something in your mind,

That leaves this world behind,

You seem content to stay inside

Looking Out

They act different… but only slightly.

I see something in their eyes,

I put on my disguise,

And, it hurt me inside

.

They sound different… but only slightly.

I hear something in their tone,

They don’t stammer, stim or groan,

When they’re anxious inside

.

They play different… but only slightly.

I don’t understand their game,

It makes me hide with shame,

I feel safer inside

.

They think different… but only slightly.

There is something in their mind,

It makes them ignorant and blind,

So all my questions stay inside

…..

This is hurting me inside!

When you look me in the eyes, what can you see?

Can you see me?

  1. This is another very emotional poem. Perhaps publishing your work would help others with ASD. Exceptional poem
